Zest from Tata Motors launched at Rs 4.64 lakh

Tata Motors has finally launched their much awaited compact sedan, Zest at a competitive price of Rs 4.64 lakh for the base XE petrol while the base diesel model XE starts at Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). Tata has launched the Zest in four variants in petrol and five variants in diesel trim. With the launch of Zest, the compact sedan segment gets more fierce. Zest will get tough competition from Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and recently launched Hyundai Xcent.
Based on Vista's platform, the Zest features radical changes and debuts Tata's new design language – 'DESIGNEXT', new infotainment system from‘'CONNECTNEXT', and new driving experience with 'DRIVENEXT'. Tata Zest embraces segment-first 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, F-Tronic Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) and multi-mode driving system. Turn indicators on ORVMs and 15 inch alloys come as standard!

On the outside, the car gets projector headlamps, day-time-running-LEDs and LED taillamps. While on the inside, it features five-inch Harman touch screen infotainment system with voice inputs, USB and Bluetooth connectivity options.
Mechanically, the petrol model of Zest gets Tata motor’s latest invention 1.2 liter Revotron Turbo-charged petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 88.8bhp and peak torque of 140Nm. The engine is mated to five speed manual transmission and sports segment first multi-mode drive – SPORTS, ECO & CITY. With a push of a button, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) is re-mapped according to the pre-set settings.
The diesel model gets Fiat Multi-Jet derived 1.3-liter turbo diesel engine dubbed as Quadrajet. The diesel engine is tuned in a way to develop power in two forms 74bhp and 88.8bhp with a peak torque of 190 and 200Nm respectively. The diesel engine features VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) and is mated to five speed manual transmission system and also sports a segment first F-Tronic Automated-Manual transmission.

12.50 PM : In the diesel model, XE is powered by 74bhp engine, while the other four XM, XMA, XMS and the XT are powered by 88.8bhp engine. The diesel engine also features AMT- First in Segment.
12.55PM: Zest gets 15 inch Alloy Wheels as standard across all the variants.
12.58 PM: Zest embraces six exciting colour options: platinum silver, sky grey, buzz blue, dune beige, pristine white and venetian red.
