There aren't many big people carriers on sale that'll comfortably seat up to eight people, and most of them look and feel a bit like modern minibusses. Not so the Mercedes V-Class. Mercedes-Benz V-Class Variants & Price: The V-Class MPV is available in three variants: Expression (extra-long wheelbase 7-seater), Exclusive (long wheelbase 6-seater), and the Elite (long wheelbase 6-seater), which are priced at Rs 68.4 lakh, Rs 81.9 lakh and Rs 1.1 crore respectively.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class Engine: The Expression and Exclusive variants are powered by a 2.1-litre BS6 diesel engine that produces 163PS of power and 380Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed AT. Now, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine on the Elite variant. While its power and torque figures remain the same as that of the 2.1-litre unit, it now comes coupled with a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox as standard as against the 7-speed AT.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class Features: Mercedes-Benz is now offering turbine-like aircon vents, S-Class-like rear seats, climate control and massage functions, panoramic sunroof (optional), and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system on the Elite variant. For safety, the V-Class gets six airbags, collision prevention assist, attention assist, crosswind assist, headlight assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also gets 360-degree cameras with blind spot detection and lane assist.
Other features on offer include swivelling front seats (seats can be rotated by 180 degrees to face rear passengers), ambient lighting, two-zone climate control and Mercedes’ Audio 20 infotainment system with navigation.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class Rivals: Even though the V-Class has no direct rivals in the country currently, it is set to change with the arrival of the Toyota Vellfire next year.
