BMW India has officially launched its luxury SUV, BMW X5 in Indian automobile market. This latest four wheeler is available in a single diesel variant, which is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-power turbocharged diesel engine that is paired with a 8-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission gearbox. This V6 engine can pump out a mammoth power of 258bhp in combination with a commanding torque output of 560Nm, which is transmitted to all four wheels. This BMW X5 xDrive 30d trim features several sophisticated functions like BMW driving experience control, servotronic steering assist function, adaptive suspension package and other advanced aspects. The automaker is offering this SUV with the company's trademark character package that features bumpers with titanium inserts, tailpipe finish in matte chrome, remote control key with buttons in chrome and several other styling aspects. The highlight of this latest version is its spacious interior cabin that is done up with extensive use of 'Dakota' leather. This luxury SUV is equipped with several innovative comfort features like lights package including ambient lighting design in three color LEDs and a panoramic glass roof, which adds to the sophistication of interiors. Beside these, it is bestowed with brake energy regeneration function that captures the kinetic energy generated when brakes are applied and is fed to the battery. It reduces the wastage of power and thereby improves the engine performance and its fuel efficiency.

Exteriors:

To start with its front profile, it has a wide headlight cluster incorporated with adaptive LED headlights along with four LED daytime light rings . It features auto high beam assistance and cornering lights as well for better visibility ahead. In the center, it has a kidney bean shaped radiator grille with vertically positioned bars, which are treated with titanium finish. The dual color front bumper has a four air intake sections and a pair of round shaped fog lamps. In addition to these, the car maker has also fitted it with protective under-guard that has a titanium finish, which further accentuates the front profile. This SUV looks magnificent from the side as it comes with several styling aspects including, stainless steel override guard, aluminum decorative side moldings and high gloss black finish on ORVMs, B and C pillars. Its wheel arches have been fitted with a set of 18-inch, Y-spoke alloy wheels that gives a distinct look to the side profile. Coming to the rear, this vehicle has a subtle body structure, which is elegantly decorated with a wide taillight cluster featuring LED lamps, a large boot lid with chrome inserts and a roof spoiler with LED third brake light. Its dual tone bumper comes fitted with matte chrome garnished tailpipes, a pair of reflectors and a protective cladding with titanium finish.

Interiors:

The internal cabin of the new BMW X5 xDrive30d trim is done up with an extensive use of “Dakota” leather. The car manufacturer is offering this SUV with a choice of six interior color schemes including Black, Canberra Beige, Ivory White, Mocha and Terra. In addition to these, it gets a pure textured fineline wood finish on door panels, dashboard, on central console, which gives a luxurious look to the cabin. One should talk about the seating arrangement, which can host at least five passengers comfortably. Its front seats have lumbar support along with electrically adjustable function, while the driver seat also has memory settings. The rear seats come with 40:20:40 split folding function, which contributes in increasing luggage space to 1800 litres. This luxury SUV also has a sophisticated panoramic glass roof.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is powered by an advanced 3.0-litre diesel engine that is equipped with latest common rail fuel injection system. It has six cylinders, 24-valves that makes a total displacement capacity of 2993cc . The company has further incorporated it with a twin-power turbo charging unit that unleashes the motor to produce 258bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque of 560Nm in the range of 1500 to 3000rpm. This V6 diesel motor is coupled with an advanced 8-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission gearbox in combination with xDrive that delivers the output to all four wheels variable using intelligent 4WD system. It takes only about 6.9 seconds for this vehicle to reach 100 Kmph mark and it can attain a top speed of 230 Kmph, which is impressive.

Braking and Handling:

All the four wheels have been fitted with a set of ventilated disc brakes that are further accompanied with high performance brake calipers. This disc braking mechanism is assisted by the anti lock braking system and brake assist function. It is also loaded with cornering brake control. This SUV gets an adaptive suspension package featuring air suspension on front and rear axles that works in combination with BMW driving experience control and boosts the stability and driving comforts.

Comfort Features:

The car maker is offering this SUV with several advanced features that provides high level of comforts to the occupants. The list includes front center armrest with storage compartment, automatic air conditioning system with 4-zone controls, rear center armrest with 2-cup holders, electrically adjustable steering column, floor mats in velour, gear shift paddles, inside rear view mirrors with anti-dazzle function and many other such features. It is also equipped with a leather wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, storage compartment package, panoramic glass sun roof, roller sun blinds for side windows, smokers package and an advanced engine start/stop function. In addition to these, the car maker has also installed BMW ConnectedDrive aspects featuring 26cm color display with iDrive touch controls.

Safety Features:

This luxury vehicle is bestowed with several important safety functions like six airbags, three point ELR seat belts and side impact protection, which provides maximized safety to the occupants inside. It also features an anti lock braking system with brake assist system, cornering brake control function, dynamic stability and traction control program, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounting, warning kit with first aid kit and an electronic vehicle immobilizer with crash sensor.
