Ford India is a fully owned subsidiary of the American car major Ford Motor Company. Ford at present is the largest car manufacturer in the country after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Chevrolet. Ford launched this car in the Indian market in September, 2009.  The sales of Ford Figo increased the overall sales of the company by 184% in 2010. The overall sales of the company reached to 83,887 in 2010 against 29,488 in 2009. The sales of the Ford Figo exceeded 76,000 units since its launch in March 2010, which has a significant effect on the overall sales growth of the company. But seems like this is not the end, the sales of Ford Figo has continued to increase in 2011. As per reports given by the company it is said that the sales of Figo hatchback tripled in the month of February, 2011. It is expected that the Indian car market will grow rapidly in the coming years and it seems like Ford has prepared itself to capitalize the growth. Ford Figo Petrol ZXI is powered by 1.2L 71bhp petrol engine which generates 70bhp of maximum power and 102Nm of maximum torque . The other standard features in the car include the Air conditioner, CD player, Power Steering and Windows and central locking. The exterior of the car is designed in such a manner to give this car a bit sporty look. Two headlamps in the front are designed in very typical manner, with the turn indicators placed above it. The front grille is designed in very sleek with the Ford logo placed in the centre. The lower grille is very big in size and is placed at very low height to give this car a sporty look.

This petrol engine is very much fuel efficient as it delivers a mileage of 12.5 seconds in the city and 15.5 kmpl on the highways . The engine is approved with the BS IV emission norm. The BS IV is the Bharat Standard emission IV which is instituted by the Government of India to keep control over the pollution by the internal combustion engine.

The engine with this power can accelerate the car from 0-100 kmph in 14.8 seconds and takes the car to a top speed of 148 kmph. The car lacks the supercharger and the turbocharger which helps in improving the performance of the car by generating power and better pick up.

The brake mechanism of the Figo hatchback includes ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear. The suspension of the car is also very effective. The front has the Independent McPherson Strut with dual path mounts while the rear has the Semi independent twist beams with coil springs. The McPherson Strut with Coil Springs type shock absorbers to reduce the amount of vibrations, noises and bumps. The car is equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission system and a power steering. The safety features in the car include Foldable grab handles with coat hooks in the rear, 3 point seatbelts for front and rear seats, lap strap for rear centre passenger, Single torn horn Laminated Glazed windscreen, Smart programmable keyless entry, Intelligent central locking, Anti-theft system and the rear defogger . But it lacks some of the safety features which are found in the same price segment hatchback like ABS, brake assist; child safety locks, anti-theft alarm, airbags, Xenon headlamps, traction control crash sensor and engine check warning.

The infotainment section of the car includes the CD/MP3 Player with USB Aux in and Radio with the total of 4 speakers in the front and rear . This sound system is not that advanced but it surely will fulfill all the basic needs of an audio system. This audio system could easily be operated from the rear by single touch of the remote control. It also has the Bluetooth interface which allows you to connect the phone and perform basic functions without touching it. The basic functions that you can do with this Bluetooth interface are Phonebook access, Call Logs, Call Swap, Call Hold, Call Mute, Privacy mode, SMS Notification and Audio streaming. The car also has the speed sensing volume control that increases the volume of the sound system when speed of the increases. The car is equipped with an air conditioner with heater and the vents fitted on the dash to effectively cool the car. Figo hatchback also has Vibrant Coral IP, Cup Holders and Remote Boot open and fuel tank. The instrumentation section of the car includes the Digital odometer and Tripmeter, DTE display, Chime and Tachometer.
