Xcent 2014-2016 1.2 Kappa SX Review
Hyundai Xcent is a compact sedan, which is available in several options to select from. Out of these, Hyundai Xcent 1.2 Kappa SX is one of its mid range petrol trim. Its external look is quite striking, while the remarkable aspects further enhances its overall appearance. At front, it has a chrome treated radiator grille and sweptback headlamps, while there are a set of 14 inch alloy wheels in its side profile. Meanwhile, its rear end features a roof mounted antenna, and a windshield with high mount stop lamp equipped to it. Coming to its interiors, it is packed with several aspects like chrome plated gear knob, tachometer, steering wheel mounted with audio controls, and a few storage spaces. The company has also offered an advanced music system, air conditioner with heater, multi information display, power operated windows and a few other aspects for the comfort of its passengers. Apart from these, it also has a number of safety aspects like dual front airbags, anti lock braking system, central locking, and rear parking sensors to name a few. In terms of technical specifications, it has a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which displaces 1197cc. It is incorporated with a multi point fuel injection supply system that helps in generating a decent mileage. Its braking and suspension mechanisms are quite efficient, which keeps it well balanced and stable at all times.
Exteriors:
It has an aerodynamic body structure that is quite attractive. This vehicle comes with an aggressive frontage, neatly designed side and rear profiles. To begin with its front fascia, it has a bold radiator grille, which is flanked by sweptback headlamps. A prominent company's insignia is also neatly embossed at the center of this grille. The body colored bumper is incorporated with a wide air dam and a couple of fog lamps as well. The windscreen is fitted with a pair of wipers, whereas the sleek bonnet comes with a few visible character lines. Its side profile is equipped with body colored external wing mirrors with side turn blinkers, B-pillars and door handles. The neatly carved wheel arches are fitted with a classy set of 14 inch clean silver alloy wheels, which gives its side profile an elegant appearance. These rims are further covered with 165/65 R14 sized tubeless radial tyres. On the other hand, its rear end is designed with a chrome garnished boot lid and body colored bumper. The windshield is integrated with a defogger and high mounted stop lamp, whereas a radiant taillight cluster as well as micro roof antenna are also available in its rear end.
Interiors:
This trim has a roomy internal cabin that is decorated in a beige and black color scheme. It is incorporated with comfortable seats that come with integrated headrests. The chrome plated gear knob, parking lever tip and metal finished door handles further gives a rich look to its interiors. Its cockpit includes a well designed dashboard that is fitted with a glove box having cooling function. Other aspects like AC vents, instrument panel and a center console are also equipped to it. The multi information display is another aspect that includes a digital clock, dual tripmeter and average vehicle speed display. Engine and Performance:
This trim is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol mill, that has a displacement capacity of 1197cc. It carries four cylinders, 16 valves and is based on a double overhead camshaft valve configuration. It is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gearbox that helps it in attaining a top speed of around 145 to 155 Kmph. And, it takes nearly 16 seconds for crossing the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a scratch. This dual VTVT motor can produce a peak power output of 81.86bhp at 6000rpm along with torque generation of 113.75Nm at 4000rpm. Besides these, it is incorporated with a multi point fuel injection system, which helps in delivering a maximum fuel economy of 19.1 Kmpl approximately.
Braking and Handling:
Its front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut, while the rear one gets a coupled torsion beam axle. Both these are further accompanied by gas filled shock absorbers that helps in making the drive smooth. On the other hand, its front wheels are fitted with disc brakes, whereas the rear ones are equipped with drum brakes. Handling this vehicle is best ensured by the motor driven electric power steering system. It is quite responsive, tilt adjustable and ensures easy maneuverability on any road condition.
Comfort Features:
This variant is loaded with a number of sophisticated features that gives an enjoyable driving experience. It has a 2-DIN integrated music system that supports Aux-in, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity. It includes radio, CD/MP3 player along with four high quality speakers. Then, there is a multifunctional steering wheel offered with audio and call control buttons mounted on it. The cabin is installed with an efficient air conditioning system that features heater and rear AC vents as well. Apart from these, it has all four power windows with driver side auto down function, power socket, luggage lamp, push button engine start/stop function, driver seat height adjuster, passenger vanity mirror and a few others that enhance their comfort levels.
Safety Features:
A lot of protective features are available in this trim, which makes the journey quite safe for its occupants. This list of aspects include an engine immobilizer, central locking system, front fog lamps, keyless entry with folding key and an electro chromic inside rear view mirror.
