Xylo 2012-2014 E8 ABS BS III Review
The fleet of Mahindra India consists majorly of sports utility and multipurpose vehicles, but they also have a wonderful sedan in their stable. Almost all the vehicles in the fleet of this company have been doing extremely well since the time they have been launched in the car markets. Mahindra Xylo is one of the top selling MPV from the admired stables of India’s very own home grown automotive giant, Mahindra India. The company is a multinational automobile manufacturer that has its head office in Mumbai and is one of the biggest vehicle makers in terms of production in the country. Mahindra and Mahindra was a steel trading company in the pre-independence era and after independence got into making vehicles. The company soon became popular as one of the leading jeep makers in the country and then gradually diversified into other vehicles as well. The company has also acquired international car making companies as well and also sell their vehicles in the international auto markets. The company has also been bestowed with some global awards and is also listed in the elite list of Fortune India 500 Companies. The incredible Mahindra Xylo is being sold in quite a number of variants for the Indian customer to select from. One such variant in this model line up is the Mahindra Xylo E8 ABS BS III trim. The company has equipped this MPV variant with a 2.5-litre, mEagle diesel engine, which has 4-cylinders and 16 valves . This commanding diesel engine has also been given a highly acclaimed common rail direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in enhancing the mileage and is also coupled with a proficient five speed manual transmission gear box as well. Some of the impressive comfort features included in this MPV are a power steering, a remote fuel lid opener, a low fuel warning light, an accessory power outlet, rear seat head rest, cup holders, a proficient air conditioning unit with heater and rear AC vents for added comfort to the rear seat passengers and many more such practical functions.
Exteriors:
This Mahindra Xylo E8 ABS BS III variant has quite a few striking aspects on its exterios. The front facade of this massive utility vehicle has a broad radiator grille that has been embedded with a chrome plated emblem of the company. This sleek radiator grille is surrounded with a bright headlight cluster, which has been bestowed with high power halogen lamps that gives clear visibility to the driver. The company has given this MPV a trendy body colored bumper that has a black colored air dam, which is flanked by a pair of bright for lamps. The side profile has body colored door handles and external rear view electric mirrors. While the flared up wheel arches have been equipped with a set of
robust 15 inch steel wheels , which have been further covered with
tubeless radial tyres of size 215/75 R15 and full wheel covers . The sides of this MPV variant has also been given foot steps with mud flaps as well. The rear end has a big windscreen, fog lamps on the bumper along with a rear wash and wipe function and a luminous tail lamp cluster and a body colored tail gate applique. The roof gets a sporty spoiler and a set of roof rails with end caps that adds to the stylishness of this MPV variant.
The overall dimensions of this MPV variant are very spacious and can take in seven passengers. The total
length of this MPV is 4525mm along with an overall width of 1770mm, which also includes the protruding external rear view mirrors. Then the overall
height of this MPV is 1880mm along with a
roomy wheel base of 2760mm, which is quite reasonable and it also has an impressive ground clearence of 186mm, which helps in taking this MPV over any terrain with ease.
Interiors:
The interiors of this Mahindra Xylo E8 ABS BS III variant have a lot of features, which will lure the customers. The interior color scheme is graceful and the dashboard along with other surfaces are smooth and is made up of good quality plastic material as well. The seats are plush and provide ample leg room along with moderate head and shoulder space, which gives all the occupants a comfortable driving experience. Engine and Performance:
The company has equipped this marvelous MPV with a commanding diesel engine. This spacious MPV has been fitted with an mEagle, 2.5-litre engine, which also has four cylinders and sixteen valves in it. This influential diesel engine has the capacity to displace 2498cc in combination with an outstanding
112bhp at 3800rpm along with a pounding maximum torque of 260Nm at 1800 – 2200rpm. This 2.5-litre diesel mill has also been equipped with a CRDi (common rail direct injection) fuel supply system and has been skilfully coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box. The company claims that this MPV has the capacity to generate a reasonably good mileage in the range of
9.34 to 11.68 Kmpl.
Braking and Handling:
The company has equipped this MPV variant with a proficient braking system along with a reliable suspension mechanism. The front wheels of this entry level MPV has been equipped with powerful disc brakes, while the rear wheels have been fitted with solid drum brakes. On the other hand, the front axle of this MPV has been given an independent coil spring type of a mechanism, while the rear axle gets a multi link coil spring type of a mechanism to keep this massive MPV well balanced on any terrain. Apart from all these aspects, the company has also equipped this variant with an
ABS (anti lock braking system) along with
EBD (electronic brake force distribution) system as well.

This Mahindra Xylo E8 ABS BS III variant has been equipped with quite a number of safety features, which comprise of an intellipark reverse assist,
ABS with EBD, powerful halogen head lamps , a wash and wipe function for the large rear windscreen, seat belts for all the passengers, an adjustable steering column, a tachometer, a digital clock, front and side impact beams, adjustable seats, a transponder based engine immobilizer and a centrally mounted fuel tank.
