Evalia XE Review
Nissan India has launched the facelifted version of its spacious MPV, Evalia in the Indian car bazaar. This refreshed vehicle comes with a minor exterior update, which is in the form of its V-shaped radiator grille. It is available in six variants, out of which, Nissan Evalia XE is the base trim. This variant has been provided with several impressive features. There are many things that would lure you towards it. The company has kept the price tag of this utility vehicle very economical and competitive. There are sliding rear doors that provide easy access to the third row. The front is very simple yet elegant, while the rear end has a neat appearance. The interiors are sophisticated and coupled with numerous comfort features like a proficient air conditioner unit, power steering, rear rows are foldable and many more such aspects. Under the hood, this MPV comes with the same settings and it is powered by a 1.5litre, Dci, K9K diesel engine that is capable enough to give out high power and torque. This variant is available in quite a few exterior paint options, which are Brick Red, Storm White, Pearl White, Aqua Green, Onyx Black, Titanium Grey and Blade Silver finish option for the buyers to choose from.
Exteriors:
The appearance of this 2014 version is quite elegant with an updated V-shaped chrome plated radiator grille. The body colored bumper is accompanied by air intake section for cooling the diesel engine quickly. The large windscreen is integrated with a set of wipers and its slanting bonnet has a couple of character lines. The grille is surrounded by a sweptback styled headlight cluster, which is incorporated with halogen lamps and side turn indicator. The side profile is designed with sliding doors, body colored ORVMs and door handles. These external wing mirrors are electrically adjustable. The neatly carved wheel arches are fitted with a robust set of 14 inch steel wheels, which are covered with 165/70 R14 sized tubeless radial tyres. The rear end has bright tail light cluster, a body colored bumper and a large windscreen with a high mounted stop lamp as well. The overall dimensions of this MPV are quite standard and is designed with a wheelbase of 2725mm along with a total height of 1860mm. It has a decent width, which measures about 1700mm along with external rear view mirrors. The minimum ground clearance is 180mm, which is rather good for this segment.
Interiors:
The interiors of this Nissan Evalia XE variant are very elegantly designed and incorporated with well cushioned seats. These are covered with fabric upholstery and provide ample leg space for all passengers. The second row seats are foldable and rear seat comes with reclining function . The smooth dashboard is equipped with a few features like an instrument panel, a three spoke steering wheel, AC vents and trendy glove box. The faux wood finished center console, floor carpets and body colored inside door handles gives the cabin a decent look. The company has equipped it with a lot of utility based aspects like seat back table, armrest, reading lamp between second and third row, front seat back pockets, cup and bottle holders, center console tray and many other such features. Apart from these, it is bestowed with a tachometer, an electronic multi-tripmeter, a digital clock, door ajar warning and MID (multi-information display).
Engine and Performance:
Under the bonnet, this trim is equipped with a 1.5 litre, In-line diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1461cc . It is integrated with four cylinders and 16 valves using a DOHC valve configuration. This engine has the ability to churn out a maximum power of 85bhp at 3750rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 200Nm at 2000rpm. It is paired with a five speed manual transmission gear box that helps the car to perform brilliantly on the road. It is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which allows the MPV to deliver 15.8 Kmpl within the city and 19.3 Kmpl on the highways. At the same time, it can accelerate from zero to 100 Kmph in close to 16 to 18 seconds and can attain a maximum speed in the range of 130 to 150 Kmph.
Braking and Handling:
The braking mechanism of this variant is further enhanced by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist function. The front wheels are equipped with a set of disc brakes, while the rear ones are fitted with drum brakes. On the other hand, its front wheels are assembled with a McPherson strut along with coil spring. Whereas the rear axle is fitted with multi leaf type of suspension mechanism. It is blessed with a rack and pinion based power steering system, which is quite responsive. This tilt adjustable steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters.
Comfort Features:
This new Nissan Evalia XE trim has been fitted with numerous comfort features like second and third row seats with folding facility, reading lamps, anti dazzle internal rear view mirror, a glove box with lid, sun visors and many other convenient features. The air conditioning system comes cools the entire cabin quickly and it is also equipped with a heater. It has a 12V power socket in center console for charging mobiles and other electronic devices.
Safety Features:
This base variant is equipped with equipped with quite a few essential features. The body of this MPV is quite strong and has the capacity to absorb impact and pressure in case of any collision. The list of features include an engine immobilizer for preventing the vehicle from unauthorized entry, door ajar warning light on instrument panel and seat belts for all passengers. It also has ABS along with EBD and brake assist function, which further enhances its braking mechanism.
