Long Term Review of VW Vento Diesel Automatic

VW Vento is there in the Indian market for some time now with incremental updates. A lot have been spoken and written about the car in the past. Let me share my experience with the car in last 28-29 months. I bought the VW Vento diesel automatic in July 2016. Car is known for its build quality, engine and the DSG gearbox. Added with this is the cruise control, automatic wipers, Auto-dimming IRVM. I have done 33K Kms already and all I can say is that it is the best car in this category if you consider the overall package. Lets consider the build quality. I love the thud of the door. Compare this with Honda city or Hyundai Verna, they are nothing as close. Driving dynamics, whether you are on the flat highway, or on the twisty roads of the mountain, you are surefooted. There is so much feedback from the steering and brakes are superb. I have done a good amount of road trips and never ever I felt nervous at high speed. You slot into sports mode and the pick up is mind-blowing. Most of the time you would have enough power in D mode and hardly require it to be put into S at all. Some thoughtful features like Cooled glove box is a great help in summer days and you can store couple of cold drinks or water bottles in it nicely. Fuel efficiency is great as well. I have received 21-22 km/l on highways and close to 15km/litre in the city. NVH level is quite contained. The car is best suited for 4 adults and one kid. Five adults can be a bit tight. Boot space is generous as well. In these months, are there any complaints? Yes some minor adjustments required to my front left door window and that is it. No further complaints. Absolute peace of mind in city or highway. It does not have some fancy stuff like ventilated seats or power adjusted driver seat but according to me they are really optional. Just do a test drive of Vento automatic and you will fall in love. At this price point, there is no better car for this segment.
