Tata Safari 2005-2017 expert review
Overview
The good old Safari continues to sell alongside its modern and slightly sophisticated cousin - the Safari Storme While the new iteration gets reworked underpinnings and the Varicor engine, the older one soldiers on with the old DiCOR motor. Does it make sense to buy the Safari in the wake of modern crossovers and soft-roaders? Let’s find out.
Verdict
The Safari has been an icon for close to 20 years, and in its DiCOR avatar, it retains all of its old-school charm. It does miss out on a lot of equipment one would expect for the price, and driving one on a day-to-day basis in traffic can get tiring as well.
If you need nothing more than a big car to use within the city, look towards modern compact SUVs such as the Duster or the Creta. If you want a big brute to go road-tripping and explore - the Safari makes quite a case for itself.
