Tata Safari fans needn’t get disappointed now that Tata Safari Storme has made a stormy entry at the Auto Expo. Tata Mtoors was right on its toes to relay the information that the Tata Safari will continue to sell in the Indian car market despite the existence of its revamped version. The age old Tata Safari has its own place in the Indian car market which is undeterred by any of the new comers, be it its very own shadow, Safari Storme or a new crop from another car manufacturer. Agreed that Tata Motors has been updating the evergreen Tata Safari with the latest diesel powertrains, but ultimately the auto major has decided to give a new name to the biggest ever makeover experimented on the iconic Tata Safari.

The Tata Safari Storme price is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh, slightly overlapping the Tata Safari price which ranges from Rs 8-12 lakh, but otherwise was hoped to sit above the latter’s top-end model to offer a clear distinction between the older and the newest model. But, driving the Tata Safari Storme price to Rs 12 lakh will be a little too high to offer a good competition to the rivals Mahindra XUV500, and the consumers might find the latter a little too enticing an option offered at a lesser price in comparison and fraught with more contemporary features.

As a matter of fact, Tata Motors did not find a valid reason to upgrade its best-selling SUV with an out and out makeover which was basically a trendsetter in the SUV segment of Indian car market. But, the growing competition has made the auto major to come up with something new this time and a hot name to go with it and here comes the new SUV. The looks are definitely a prize winner, with the whole new fascia to entice the customers with the new exterior appeal, while the interiors have undergone a sea change with the faux wood inserts near the dashboard and center console to offer a superior look and feel which was missing earlier. Anyhow, Tata Motors has done absolutely nothing with the 2.2 L DiCOR diesel engine which also powers the Tata Safari Storme SUV delivering the same peak power and torque output of 140 Bhp and 320 Nm.
