The upcoming Punto facelift is creating a lot of buzz lately, the car has been spotted testing numerous times online. Now, 2014 Punto images have been leaked completely. The hatchback shares its face with Avventura crossover that Fiat showcased at the Auto Expo this year. The Punto facelift will be majorly a stylistic makeover, though few mechanical changes are expected too. The 2014 Punto launch seems to be imminent and the car is likely to enter in coming weeks.
What to expect in the new Punto
- The vehicle is featuring a fresh new face inspired from the Fiat Avventura crossover concept, showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
- Speaking of the front, lot of chrome is used subtly around the new inverted trapezoidal grille and around the fog lamp housing. The air dam and grille features honeycombed mesh.
- The vehicle features a new set of sweptback headlights similar to the Avventura.
- The side profile is kept same but it adorns a new set of dual-5-spoke silver alloys. The 2014 Punto will continue to carry the 14, 15-inch radial depending on the variant.
- Unlike the Linea facelift, Punto is getting heavy makeover at the rear. The highlight at the rear, what the leaked pictures reveal, are the LED taillamps.
- The new rear bumper features chrome appliqué throughout the profile enclosing fog lamps, the vehicle also sports a rear spoiler.
- On the inside, Punto carries new Linea's interiors, but the leaked car image seems to be of the top end-diesel version featuring all-black with Piano Black central console and silver accents. The pictures also reveal that it features leather wrapped steering wheel and gearbox.
- The ambient lighting in Linea is likely to be carried in the updated Punto.
- Other goodies on board are the automatic climate control, follow-me-home-headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, Bluetooth enabled audio system, etc.
- Expect new color shades in the new Punto, like this golden-orange shade in the leaked picture.
Mechanically, the vehicle is expected to remain same but seeing the Polo GT TSI, upcoming Tata Bolt's 1.2 Revotron, Fiat could introduce the 1.4 T-Jet turbocharged petrol motor in the Punto. This engine in Linea belts out 112bhp at 5000rpm and 207Nm of max torque at 2200rpm. Apart from this the 1.4 and 1.2 liter naturally aspirated engine will also be continued. On the diesel front, the 1.3 liter Multi-Jet will be on duty. The Punto features both the state of tune, the fixed-geometry-turbocharger one churns out 75bhp at 4000rpm and 197Nm of peak torque. The sportier variable-geometry-turbocharger one belts out 92bhp at 4000rpm and 207Nm of max torque.
