Land Rover has officially revealed the refreshed 2014 Discovery, which now receives a new look, new badging, new fuel stretching technology, improved audio systems and the new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features. The 2014 Discovery has been spotted number of times on the streets during its test runs, and is all set to make its world premier at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
“The hugely popular Discovery continues to move from strength to strength and the addition of improvements in fuel economy and emissions underpins our commitment to delivering power with sustainability. As one of the world’s most stylish, capable and versatile SUVs, the Discovery is the perfect vehicle for people who enjoy living an active lifestyle to the full,” said Land Rover Global Brand Director, John Edwards.
The 2014, Land Rover Discovery gets an all-new exteriors, and now has a new front grille, new front bumper, restyled headlamp, new daytime running lights with a distinctive LED signature, two new alloy wheel designs and few others. Moreover, the vehicle will also be available with the optional 'Black Design Pack' with revised detailing, plus 20-inch black alloy wheels.
For the first time ever, the name ‘Discovery’ name replaces ‘Land Rover’ on the bonnet and the number 4 will be removed from the tailgate leaving just the word ‘Discovery.’ Engine badging moves from the tailgate to an ingot mounted on each of the front doors. This side-badging will reflect the engine type and appear as ‘SDV6’ in the UK market. In the USA and the Middle East the vehicle’s badging will remain as previous models.
Under the hood, the 2014 Discovery gets a 3.0-litre SDV6 engine that is capable of developing 25.5bhp and delivers a fuel efficiency of 12.5kmpkl. All models are equipped with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The other features are Wade Sensing (a technology unique to Land Rover), Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras.
