2015 Chevrolet Cruze unveiled; India launch later this year

GM unveiled the new 2015 Chevrolet Cruze ahead of 2014 New York Motor Show starting this Friday- April 18. It looks like the Cruze that leaked in the China is purely for the Chinese market, it surely looses the true American muscle car essence which we all love about the current Cruze. Well its all good that ends good, we will be getting this updated Cruze in the falls of 2014. The new car offers host of new features and it retains the beefy bolder looks of the Cruze. The new Cruze will compete against the likes of Skoda Octavia, new Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and Hyundai Elantra.

Speaking of the design, the new sedan offers “Dual Port” grille similar to that of its big brothers new Impala and 2014 Malibu (some what similar to the new updated Beat). The major changes are in the front fascia that has really lifted ages of the car. The redesigned bumper with 'L' shaped chrome appliqué houses the day-time-running-LED's (only offered in LT and LTZ), the tail and head lamp received subtle changes. There's new set of alloys. GM says that the car will be offered with variety of new shades and interior trim.

New additions to the 2015 Cruze

> Seven-inch-diagonal (7'') HD touch screen infotainment system with USB ports, 3G-4G connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hot-spot.

> Voice interaction with Chevrolet MyLink along with 'Apple Siri' integration. The system is capable to read text out loud and offers other mobile activities.

> GM has also planned to roll Chevrolet AppShop wherein the apps in the market will connect the driver to get information about vehicle data, news, music, weather condition and travel info.

> Built-in Navigation.

> Reverse camera with rear parking sensors.

> The door lock is shifted to the driver's door from the central console, redesigned cup holders and trunk release on central console.

> Tweaked interiors.

“We’ve simply made a great, versatile car even better,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of passenger car and crossover marketing. “Chevrolet continues to design, build and sell the most compelling small cars in its history and the 2015 Cruze offers more of the features, connectivity and efficiency that are important to today’s customers.”

About the engines, the car will continue to carry forward the current diesel powerplant, the 2.0 liter VCDi turbo diesel motor that churns out 166PS and 380Nm of maximum torque matted to a six speed manual transmission along with 6-speed auto box. GM India might introduce the new Cruze with 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol producing 140PS and and a meaty 200Nm of torque. On the safety front, the new Cruze in US offers 10 airbags whereas the Indian version currently offers 4 airbags; expect the new Cruze to offer few more airbags. Cheers to GM-Chevrolet!!
