The 2016 Delhi Auto Expo is open for public as of today (February 5th), but we had all the fun during the press days and now we bring to you the top 5 car launches. These are the top models that are ready for sale right away or are making their over way real soon.
Jaguar XE (Rs.39.90 lacs ex-showroom Delhi)
Jaguar has entered the territory of BMW 3 Series with its baby model, Jaguar XE. The car has been launched in India, at the Expo and will be made available for sale immediately. To start with, Jaguar has made only the petrol variants available for the XE, in two different outputs. The standard 2.0-litre petrol unit produces 200 PS of power and 320 Nm of peak torque, while the turbocharged 2.0-litre unit of the same engine delivers 240 PS of power output and 340 Nm of peak torque.
BMW 7 Series (Rs.1.1 crore ex-showroom Delhi)
BMW has launched its next generation flagship, the all-new 7 Series, priced at Rs.1.1 crore in India. The new 7 Series will be assembled locally at BMW’s Chennai plant, with around 50 percent of the components being sourced locally. The 6th gen 7 Series brings several technological innovations - such as carbon-fibre incorporated frame, iDrive 5.0 with Hand Gesture Control, autonomous parking without driver’s interference, 4-wheel steering and more. BMW will offer the 7-series in both diesel and petrol engine options. The 730d diesel gets a six-cylinder configuration, putting out 265 PS of power; 740i petrol gets a 3.5-litre V6 that generates 326 hp; 750i 4.4 litre V8 Twin Turbo set-up delivers 444 hp. All of them are coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Audi R8 (Rs.2.47 crore ex-showroom Delhi)
Audi R8 has been the flagship for Audi in delivering the brand’s sports car reputation and the new R8 takes it forward by several strides. The new Audi R8 V10 Plus is completely new and gets the Audi Virtual cockpit system. The car will be available in two iterations of the same engine - a 5.2-litre V10 unit in 540 hp and 610 hp version. The R8 makes use of a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox and Quattro AWD system to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 330 km/h.
Punto Pure (Rs.4.49 lacs ex-showroom Delhi)
Fiat at the grand event of Auto Expo has launched the Punto Pure hatchback at a price of Rs. 4.49 lac for the base petrol variant, while the diesel trim starts at Rs. 5.59 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi). The model is a pre-facelifted version which was outphased in the year 2014. The hatchback is also known by the name 'Grande Punto' and is available with both diesel and petrol engine options with the latter being the 1.3 litre Multijet producing 75bhp and 197Nm of peak torque, former generates 67bhp and 96Nm peak torque.The exterior features alloy wheels, body colored bumpers and black ORVMs. Interiors on the other hand, sports grey and black theme, regular music system and manual air conditioning.
BMW X1 (Rs.29.9 lacs ex-showroom Delhi)
The German launched the X1 SUV at the Auto Expo 2016. The new version of the car has been priced at Rs. 29.9 lacs (Ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new X1 now looks more sophisticated than the outgoing model and would certainly appeal to a number of car enthusiasts. The vehicle takes design inspiration from elder sibling X3. The car comes powered by 2.0 litre diesel engine which generates 190bhp and 200Nm of peak torque. The engine is further mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission system. BMW X1 will compete against Mercedes Benz GLA Class and Audi Q3 in the segment.
