The Datsun GO and GO+ are expected to receive comprehensive upgrades inside out before Diwali 2018
It appears that after the Indonesian market, Datsun is all set to launch the GO and GO+ facelifts in India. The GO+ micro MPV has recently been spotted testing in the country reaffirming the same. Both the cars are expected to be launched around the upcoming festive season. It has been a long time coming as the GO was launched in India in 2014, while the GO+ was introduced in the following year. The updated models were launched in Indonesia in May 2018.
Highlights: 2018 Datsun GO/GO+ (as seen on the Indonesia-spec model)
- Redesigned front bumper with new all-around body extensions and redi-GO-like daytime running LEDs. Both the cars look significantly sportier up front compared to the pre-facelift versions
- Datsun promises better high- and low-beam illumination from revised smoked headlamps in the Indonesia-spec facelift
- Datsun’s hexagonal grille now features a different mesh pattern as seen on the Indonesia-spec models
- New electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals, against the manually adjustable units on the current one
- 14-inch alloy wheels on higher models with wider 165/70 cross-section tyres compared to 13-inch 155/70 offered with the outgoing versions
- The GO and GO+ facelifts will get different rear bumpers too compared to the pre-facelift models
- Rear windscreen pressure washer and wiper

- Premium-looking dashboard borrowed from the GO Cross (not coming to India). While the GO sports an all-black theme, the GO+ gets a dual-tone black and beige dashboard in the Indonesian market

- The bench-type front seats have thankfully been replaced by proper bucket seats. However, they still get integrated headrests. And since the bench seats are gone, there’s a new centre console with a floor-mounted handbrake

- New 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system which offers Bluetooth phone integration along with playback through MP3, USB and AUX
- While the Indonesia-spec models continue to offer just driver airbags, the India-spec model could get dual front airbags and ABS, considering the upcoming safety norms. The safety features are part of the GO Cross’ feature list
- The current GO and GO+ have been criticised for poor NVH levels. With the facelifts, however, Datsun promises improved NVH levels in the Indonesian market
- Other new features include an updated instrument cluster, all-four power windows and auto headlamps
Mechanically, the GO and GO+ will carry forward the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (68PS/104Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual. The Indonesia-spec model, however, gets a slightly higher 78PS/104Nmn tune with a CVT as seen on the Nissan Micra, which is unlikely to be offered in India. Prices of both the models should remain largely unchanged with this update. The GO is currently priced in the range of Rs 3.35 lakh to 4.36 lakh, while the GO+ is priced between Rs 3.91 lakh and 5.19 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
