The Hyundai Venue Petrol-DCT has a claimed fuel economy of 18.15kmpl

The sub-4m SUV segment is one of the fastest growing in the country. And with the launch of the Hyundai Venue recently, the South Korean carmaker has also decided to claim a piece of it. The Venue not only brings segment-first connected car features to the table but also comes with a turbocharged petrol engine mated to a segment-leading dual clutch automatic transmission. We recently tested the Venue petrol-DCT and noted the mileage it delivered per litre of fuel. Here’s what the numbers reveal:

    Displacement

    1.0-litre turbocharged

    Max power

    120PS

    Peak torque

    172Nm

    Transmission

    7-speed DCT

    Claimed fuel efficiency

    18.15kmpl

    Tested fuel efficiency (city)

    10.25kmpl

    Tested fuel efficiency (highway)

    16.71kmpl

    Mileage

    50% city and 50% highway

    25% city and 75% highway

    75% city and 25% highway

    12.70kmpl

    14.43kmpl

    11.34kmpl

As expected, the real-world fuel economy of the Venue petrol-DCT is lower than what Hyundai claims. This is due to the fact that the claimed fuel economy figures are measured in a controlled environment.

If your regular commute is in city conditions, then expect an average mileage of around 11kmpl. However, it could drop further in dense traffic conditions. But if your travel involves more highway stretches or a relatively clearer route, the overall fuel efficiency should go up by about 3kmpl. On the other hand, in the scenario where your commute is equally distributed between the city and highway, the fuel economy hovers around 12kmpl.

These figures are just indicative and bound to change depending on the road and car conditions along with the vehicle’s health. But if you own a Venue DCT petrol, please share your findings with us and fellow owners in the comments section. Also if you own 1.0-litre petrol with the 6-speed manual gearbox, let us know how much its fuel efficiency figure differs from the DCT.

I also got 20.5 kmpl on highway when speed was 80kmph. When speed increases beyond 120 kmph, mileage drops. may get 15-16kmpl. Even in ghats upward slope mileage is poor. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi! So I just bought the venue as my first car and granted it's been only three days. I've done about 300 kms. The fuel reading is showing me around 7-8. When can you properly judge? Two full tanks?
