Unfortunately, you can’t get behind the wheel and experience the full potential of the hot hatch at most dealerships
The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI, priced at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom), is now on display at select showrooms across India. The performance hatchback has arrived at our shores as a CBU (completely built unit). Unfortunately, you cannot test drive the VW Golf GTI as our dealership sources said that most of the cars that have reached dealerships are customer units and are being prepped for deliveries.
In fact, the first batch was so much in demand that it was sold out well before its official launch. Here are all the key details you need to know:
Design
The Golf GTI looks sharp and aggressive, just like a performance hatch should. At the front, it has sleek LED headlamps with full-width LED DRLs, a honeycomb mesh design on the air dams and five-piece X-shaped LED fog lamps which gives it a modern look. Besides, there are some signature styling elements like a sporty red strip, and a GTI badge on the grille which boasts its stand-out status.
From the side, the Golf GTI sports clean lines, eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers, and a GTI badge on the front door. It is available in four body colours: Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium, Moonstone Grey, and Kings Red Premium Metallic.
Wraparound LED tail lamps, a bold GTI badge on the tailgate, and a sporty bumper with dual round exhaust tips round off the overall design.
Interior & Features
Step inside the Golf GTI and you’ll see a sporty black cabin theme with contrasting red touches. The seats feature a classic checkered Tartan pattern with red inserts that add to its bold look. The front seats come with thick side bolsters to keep you secure during sharp turns. The rear seats have adjustable headrests for all three passengers, including the one in the middle. The rear seat also features a foldable centre armrest with cupholders and dedicated AC vents for added comfort.
If you’re out on a night drive, the ambient lighting spanning across the cabin creates a premium vibe inside. The layered dashboard houses a free-standing 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The three-spoke steering wheel includes silver accents, red highlights, and a GTI badge at the bottom.
In addition to the touchscreen, the Golf GTI offers a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and a 7-speaker sound system. For safety, it includes 7 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear-view camera, and parking sensors at both ends.
Powertrain Option
The Golf GTI uses a turbo-petrol engine paired with a front-wheel drivetrain and a dual-clutch transmission. This setup delivers strong power and torque, allowing the car to reach a top speed of up to 267 kmph, as shown on the digital driver’s display.

Volkswagen has equipped the Golf GTI with a stiffer suspension for tighter body control. It also includes an electronic differential lock that sends power to the wheel with more grip for better exits during cornering. The upgraded brakes further enhance its stopping power for better overall performance.
