The very famous car designer Dilip Chhabria is launching very first Indian supercar on the 5th Jan at the 2012 Auto Expo as the clock will struck 2.30PM. The glory of this launch will be go to Cloud nine when the Millennium superstar of Bollywood-Amitabh Bacchan will take off the wraps off this car which is yet to be accorded a name. The super car will meet head on with Lamborghini Murcielago and Lamborghini Aventador in India. According to Chhabria, the car can be tagged at a price of Rs 30 lakh on road. He decided to call the car ‘Buddh’, after India’s Formula One Circuit, but the response for the name has not been encouraging, so he is thinking up a new one now.
Dilip Chhabria is not a new name for car lovers. He has been serving the industry from quite a long time. Dilip is well qualified in Transportation Design from U.S.A. and has worked with General Motors in USA in their Design Centre. He also began his own auto accessory business and became one of the largest auto accessory manufacturers in India. The very famous DC Design is India’s own automotive design house which is all set to rock the floor with its super car this season. According to Chhabria, his company is making a transformation from a design house to a production house with this car. Throwing light on the car he said that it will offer the looks, feel, dimensions, quality and fit and finish comparable to supercars from Lamborghini and Ferrari, minus the horsepower.
This DC supercar will be powered by a V6 diesel engine sourced from Honda putting out 400 bhp of max power and will be placed behind the driver, between the two axles. The kerb weight of the supercar will be near 1,560 kg. The wonder car will be produced in low volume (300 units initially) and will be assembled at the DC’s facility in Pune. The firm will scale up the production to 3,000 units subsequently. Deliveries of the car can be expected by end-2013, once it passes enough qualification tests.
