Leading commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has today entered the passenger vehicle segment by launching the much awaited MPV Stile in India. Originally based on Nissan Evalia, Ashok Leyland has rolled out the vehicle in 7 and 8 seat configuration. The vehicle has launched at a starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The MPV has been developed jointly by Ashok Leyland and Nissan Motor. While everyone in the industry were expecting the vehicle to be rolled out in three power options, a petrol, a CNG and a diesel, the company introduced the vehicle in diesel only. However, CNG and petrol will be launched later.
Deriving its power from the similar 1.5- litre, four-cylinder K9K diesel mill mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, which also does duty to the Evalia. However, the engine has been tuned differently. It churns out lesser power, so to return better fuel economy. As compared to the Evalia's 85bhp, the tuned engine produces 75bhp for the Stile, while the ARAI certified figure has gone better for the Stile, it returns 19.5kmpl as against Evalia's 19.3kmpl.
Launched in a total 3 variants- LE, LS and LX, the Ashok Leyland Stile MPV has been offered with two years or 50,000 km warranty. The MPV has been made available in 5 colours- white, silver, grey, red and black. The Stile will be sold via Ashok Leyland outlets across the nation.
