Audi A3 Sedan goes into production; US Spec Revealed

CarDekho has been constantly informing you about Audi India's future plans, which includes new launches, makeovers and expansion. Couple of days back, we reported that the company is all set to start local assembling of its most affordable Audi Q3 crossover, which will be priced around Rs. 25 lakh. It is also planning to launch the A3 sedan in India by 2014, and might bring the A3 Sportback as well. Moreover, the Audi has sent the highly anticipated A3 sedan into production at its plant in Gyor, Hungary. The vehicle will first go on sale in USA, then will head towards other markets.

Audi's USA arm has already revealed the details of the A3 Sedan, which comes equipped with various standard features such as fabric seats, air conditioning, metallic trim and a four-speaker audio system. Buyers can also enjoy other features like leather upholstery, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a panoramic glass sunroof, GPS navigation and an Audi Connect infotainment system. The US spec Audi A3 will be available with three different engines. The entry-level 1.4-litre TFSI develops 140bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine helps the sedan sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 8.4 seconds, and attain a top speed of 217km/h. In terms of efficiency, the Audi A3 1.4 TFSI gives an excellent mileage of 21.26kmpl.

The other one is 2.0-litre TDI, which is capable of developing 150bhp and 320Nm of top torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in mere 8.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 220km/h. The car is bit slow then the TFSI model, but it offers an excellent fuel economy of 24.36kmpl. The engines will eventually be joined by another 1.6-litre TDI engine.
