As per SIAM the month of September registered the sharpest fall in auto sales at 9.43 per cent in nearly 4 years. Even the upcoming festive season of Diwali failed to boost auto sales. Now while all this is saddening from the market growth perspective, Audi still have a little something to celebrate. For the 3rd month standing, Audi has reported higher monthly sales figures than its biggest competitors; Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover. That’s right, Audi has done it again.
The sales figures released by SIAM show Mercedes-Benz India with sales figures of 784 units, Bavarian Motors Works (BMW) with sales figures of 815 units and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) with sales figures of a disappointing 187 units. Audi emerged in triumph for the 3rd consecutive month this year with sales figures of 971 units. Head of Audi India, Michael Perschke reported in a tweet “Final sales No for Sept. by SIAM: MB 784, BMW 815, JLR 187 & Audi 971 ... Oops we did it again. 3rd month in 2012 as No. 1! Tx from Audi.”
Well, despite yet another sluggish month for the Indian auto market, it looks like the offices of Audi India will still remain cheerful. Of course we have seen Mercedes-Benz tighten their focus on India as well. Can they climb up the 200-odd units to catch up market leader Audi, remains to be seen.
