Starting fourth on the grid, once Avdumber in car # 2 was in the lead, he never looked back increasing the difference between him and the rest of the pack by the lap. He raced his way to the checkered flag for his first ever Polo R Cup victory. Prateek in car # 11 who was also on the podium for the first time reached the finish line within 6 seconds of Avdumber. He had a tough time defending his second position from Oshan Kothadiya, who finished third with 00:20:58.048 with a difference of only 00:00.511 seconds. Championship leader Vishnu Prasad had to retire from the race in the 8th lap due to a collision.

Visibly elated with his performance Avdumber said, “This is my best race so far in the season. My focus was on the front and keeping the race clean. I was not able to capitalise on my second position on the grid in the first race but I am very happy to win the second race today.“ Prateek said “I had a good strategy and was able to execute it really well which helped me to clinch the 2nd position on the podium. I had a lot of fun this afternoon and I am happy to see that my hard work has paid off this weekend.“

Mr. Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, said, “This was one of the best races of the day. This circuit has more twist and turns as compared to the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. This has made the races here more challenging for the drivers to fight off each other to emerge a winner today. As the season is progressing, the races are becoming highly competitive and with three more rounds to go, the competition among the drivers has reached a critical stage.” Thanks to its proven concept of promoting young talent abroad, the Polo R Cup enjoys the reputation of being an ideal stepping stone to enter professional racing. Building on its success with the debut Polo Cup India last year, Volkswagen Motorsport will continue to make Polo R Cup the premier touring car championship in the country.
