Bentley’s highly anticipated SUV the Bentayga is officially confirmed to get a diesel engine implementing an electronic-turbocharger. The news is said to be confirmed by a lead engineer and that the upcoming super luxury SUV will share this motor with a high-performance version of the second-generation Audi Q7.
Speaking of the diesel motor, it would be a 4.0-litre V8 TDI engine, probably from the SQ7, due next year. The engine is expected to produce 435 PS of power and a peak torque of around 1000 Nms and with the use of the e-turbo the lag would be well controlled making the power deliver more linear and at the same time increasing the fuel efficiency. These figure are subject to change as they are from the SQ7 and are expected to increase.
Though initially, Bentayga will be launched with a newly developed W12 6.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that generates a humongous 608 PS of power and a peak torque of 900 Nm. A Hybrid version is also expected, but only till 2017.
If launched in India, Bentayga could be expected to come with the speculated diesel engine. Bentayga could be showcased in the Indian Auto-Expo that is due in February 2016.
