BMW mulls to bring premium hatchback Mini in India

BMW India is all geared up and planning to introduce its new premium hatchback Mini in India in period of next two to three years. As per the president of BMW India, Mr. Andreas Schaaf, the main decision to introduce BMW mini in India will be taken in a year’s time by the board of directors and it is expected that BMW Mini will soon hit the Indian roads.

It is pretty well-known all over the world that Indian car market is one of the most flourishing and booming market across the globe. Also the Indian car market is gladly accepting luxury cars in the country and people are actually buying luxury cars frequently. BMW India wishes to maintain its top position in the luxury car market of India since past 2 years and with BMW Mini it expects to dominate the luxury car market of the country.

As per Mr. Schaaf, BMW India targets to sell around 10000 units in the year 2011, which is about 60% more from 6246 cars in the year 2010. If figures are taken into account, in the time period of January to July 2011, BMW India sold around 5,364 luxury cars along with SUVs. Therefore, if BMW India manages to sell around 10000 cars this year, the market share in the premium car segment will go up to 49%. It is a good thing that demand for BMW cars is rising in spite of the sky rocketing fuel prices and higher interest rates. BMW India is sure that there is a part of market in India for BMW Mini car. This car will have its very own dealership network in the country.
