BMW has launched the performance-oriented version of the X5 SUV, the X5 M Competition, in India. It is available via the completely built unit (CBU) route and is priced at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom).
The highlight of the X5 M Competition is its 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine that churns out 625PS and a massive 750Nm of torque! It comes coupled with an 8-speed M-Steptronic automatic transmission and drives the four wheels. The X5 M Competition can complete the 0-100kmph run in just 3.8 seconds with its top speed electronically limited to 250kmph. BMW offers the performance-oriented SUV with three modes: Road, Sport and Track.
Compared to the standard X5, the X5 M Competition gets a blacked-out active front kidney grille (to allow air in for cooling) and a sportier redesigned front bumper. It also comes with M-specific alloy wheels (21-inch front and 22-inch rear) with M-specific brake calipers, and an X5 M Competition badge at the rear.
Inside, the cabin layout is largely unchanged, save for the M-specific additions in the form of a steering wheel and sport seats. Apart from these, the X5 M Competition packs in features such as wireless charging, 4-zone climate control, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic glass roof, and memory function for the front seats. Safety features on offer include multiple airbags, vehicle stability control, and cruise control with braking function.
BMW’s X5 M Competition model is aimed directly at the likes of the Porsche Cayenne, Audi RS Q8, and Lamborghini Urus.
