Brose inaugurates its first manufacturing plant in India

Brose the international automative supplier has opened its first official manufacturing plant in India which is located in Hinjewadi, Pune. Spread in 2300- square meter area, the plant will produce window regulators this year. It has the capacity to produce 2 million units. The plan is to supply and manufacture the entire product portfolio locally by the mid term. However the plant will start producing manual seat height adjusters by September 2011.

The president of Brose India, Ashwani Aggarwal said that the company always had the plan to establish Brose in India and setting up a development center in 2006 was the frist step towards that. Aggarwal also mentioned that with the commencement of the new plant in Pune the local production has begun which covers  the entire value chain in Pune.

He said that there are two projects in pipeline. The first project is an export assignment; however the second project will be for a locally based international OEM for the Indian market. Talking about the series production, Aggarwal said that it is likely to start in April 2011.

He clarified that the new factory will produce goods for export business and for Indian automative market also.  Aggarwal stated that Brose being the world market leader offers competitive, cost-optimized products along with high tech products of international quality standard to the national and international manufacturers in India.

The automative supplier has plans to spread its activities in India by 2012. The company has also started looking for a suitable land in Pune. The plant manager of the new Surinder Chauhan discussed the vision of the company. He said that the company is planning to build a new facility wherein the product development, product testing, production and administration will be carried out in one complex. This arrangement will be set up in order to meet the need of the customers' requirements. Therefore the company is looking forward to set up a new facility so that it has larger space for manufacturing additional brose products. Not only this but it will give company a base to implement diverse manufacturing processes. Aggarwal also said that the new facility will feature Brose's international architectural corporate design, with open concept working spaces and social areas for our employees

The company started its first engineering services in India back in 2006. The aim was to support the Indian customers and supplier which was achieved by setting up a development and sales office in Pune. At present, there are approximately 85 employees working towards the development of electronics, electric motors, window regulators, seat adjusters and closure systems for the Indian market and other Brose Group locations. Regional procurement and IT services are also carried out in Pune for the corporate group. The number of employees of Brose India will almost double during 2011.
