There are two new products - Creta and S-Cross from India’s top two passenger carmakers entering into the most popular segment of the country - Compact Crossovers. And if you have fallen for the Creta, you need to read this article.
From whatever we know about the Creta, it looks enticing amongst its peers, squaring off against Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport along with Maruti’s first crossover - S-Cross. To start with, it has got the looks, it isn’t as bland as the upcoming S-Cross. Indeed, it inherited the looks from the big-brother Santa-Fe.

To add more bling, it got the projectors and LED daytime running light (remember Hyundai debuted DRLs in sub-10 lac segment with the last-gen i20). It also rides on a larger 17-inch wheel with diamond-cut alloys. Even the interiors are heavily loaded just like any other Hyundai on sale currently. You’ll get a large touchscreen infotainment system along with other audio system options with things like built-in memory, Bluetooth and there’s another smaller touchscreen option too. Apart from these, there are regular Hyundai things that would benefit Creta largely. At the outset, the largest dealer network, yes I know Maruti is also in this article but since they will be retailing S-Cross from the NEXA dealership and they probably will have 30 in next few weeks. Hyundai outshines Ford and Renault in both dealership reach and service network. Moreover, the resale value of Hyundai is also more and is somewhat on lines of the Maruti.
The product promises a lot, if you're not price conscious, then it's a no-brainer, but for the price conscious it all rest on the final prices of the soft-roader and how Hyundai put it against the competition. Assuming, Hyundai's tendency to put a price premium on its products, let us see how things unfold with the Creta's launch on 21st July. Stay tuned to CarDekho!
