The premium electric car space in India is ready for its most affordable sedan option yet with the launch of the BYD Seal on March 5. Bookings for the Seal have been open for a refundable token of Rs 1 lakh with customer deliveries scheduled to begin shortly after prices are announced. Here’s what you need to know about it.
Battery, Range and Performance
The BYD Seal will be offered with two battery pack options but three powertrain options in total, one for each variant. The variant-wise specifications are as follows:

The larger battery pack can support up to 150kW DC fast charging, while the smaller one charges at up to 110kW.
BYD Seal Features
The Seal electric sedan will be available in three variants - Dynamic Range, Premium Range and Performance. As a premium offering, it comes well-equipped as standard with features like the rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, many airbags, powered and climate controlled (heated and ventilated) front seats, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS. Leather upholstery and 19-inch alloy wheels are available from the one-above-base variant.

Price And Rivals
The BYD Seal will be offered as a fully-built import and prices can start from Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge while being an affordable alternative to the BMW i4.
