Chevrolet Baojun 630, new sedan for the Indian auto market

General Motors is expected to introduce a new saloon Baojun 630 in the Indian auto sector. For a long time, the American auto maker has been planning to bring a new sedan vehicle. If the grapevines are to be believed, Chevrolet Aveo could not bring in the desired result for the US company which made Chevrolet to think about bringing a new model. As per the reports, General Motors is planning to come with Baojun 630 saloon version in the Indian auto sector along with the company's Chinese partners SAIC.

The new car version will not replace the Chevrolet Aveo. As per the company, the new car will be placed with the sedan Chevrolet Aveo. As per the reports in China, the joint venture, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), recently introduced the company's first  passenger car, Baojun 630. With the new car, the company is planning to capture the Indian auto sector and other auto markets worldwide. In India, the new car Baojun 630 will be placed in the sedan segment and will be pitched against the already established Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Manza and also the newly launched Toyota Etios.

Karl Slym, the president and managing director of General Motors India, said that, the company is planning to come with six new vehicles and 14 new variants of its cars in the Indian auto market in the coming two year's time. General Motors is planning to spread its wings extensively in the Chinese and Indian market owing to the growth opportunities there. Mr Slym, also said that, the company wishes to introduce six new vehicles in which four will be the passenger cars and two will be light commercial vehicles.

General Motors in India is planning to capture the growth in the domestic car market. The American auto maker will invest $ 500 million in the Indian auto market as per the expansion plans. Already the GM India, has invested more than one billion dollars in the company. In the domestic car market, the General Motors has 10 car models in its portfolio right from hatchback, sedans to SUVs. These are Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Spark LPG, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Tavera Neo. The US auto maker accounted a growth of 18 per cent in November 2010 by selling 8376 units which was 7118 units last year in November. The company is also looking forward to increase the prices of its car by 1.5 to 3 per cent in the first week of January 2011 due to the cost pressure from the raw materials front.
