The growing competition has made the General Motors to consider a facelift for their SUV Chevrolet Captiva. But this time, the new SUV might be assembled locally as opposed to earlier when the SUV was imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) to India. Moreover, the car maker has been clear on one point. The midlife makeover will not be a major one as one would expect. The auto major has been right as far as the exteriors are concerned and not much changes can be expected on the looks. Nevertheless, thorough changes in the engine and interiors are definitely present.

More than anything else, the 2.0 L engine from the outgoing model is replaced with a much powerful 2.2 L diesel powertrain under the hood. The option will be open for a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic gearbox to help the engine churn out a better power output of 184 Bhp from 150 Bhp produced from the current 2.0 L engine. However, the unchanged new Chevrolet Captiva price endowed with surplus performance is likely to captivate the consumers this time at the 2012 Auto Expo. Except for a slightly wider grille in the front and almost no changes in the rear end, the car is expected to look same as ever before.

A fresher look cannot be overruled either. But, it is the interiors with a new instrument panel that is bound to scream for attention. Six airbags have been added for extended safety on the car apart from the GPS with an LCD screen to help the user in navigation. A new electronically operated hand brake to employ the control more efficiently at the right time. The new instrument panel fraught with the techno gadgetry is neatly laid out with the tachometer separated from the rest of the instrument cluster. Last but not the least important, an all new audio system has been included for the onboard entertainment.
