Chevrolet Sail Sedan Reaches Dealerships Across India; Bookings Open

General Motors India that launched the Sail U-VA hatchback in November 2012, is now all set to launch the Sail Sedan in India on February 1, 2013 at an expected price of Rs. 6 lakh. The company has already teased the official images and trailers of Sail Sedan and has also revealed the features it will come up with. And now the vehicle has reached to all Chevrolet dealerships across India, and buyers can pre-book the car with an amount of Rs 51,000. Chevrolet Sail sedan will replace the existing Aveo, which has not been able to do any good for the company, possibly because of the unavailability of the diesel engine. But now with the fiat sourced 1.3-litre multijet engine, Sail Sedan certainly has a chance to change the game, if priced well.

Like we reported earlier as well, Chevrolet Sail Sedan will have two engine options- 1.2-litre Smartech, 4-cylinder petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine. The 1.2-litre Smartech petrol mill is the similar that currently powers Chevrolet Beat and Sail U-VA hatchback, and churns out the peak power output of 84bhp and 116Nm of torque, on the other hand 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine is already a proven and reliable one, it does its duty to some of the best diesel cars available in the country including the closest competitor of the Sail Sedan, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. Both these engines are also installed in the Sail U-VA hatchback.

Both the petrol and diesel engines will come with the five-speed manual gearbox as standard. Not just the tried-and-true engines is all what Chevrolet has to offer to its buyers, the Sail Sedan also has a plenty of advanced features including twin airbags, ABS, EBD and several others.

So on the whole Sail Sedan has all what it takes to become a good C segment car, it's just the pricing that has to be lucrative, and if that happens, we are sure, they can redo a 'Beat'.
