Chevrolet Sail U-VA Hatchback Prices Slashed, Now Starts at Rs. 4.19 Lakh

Yesterday, we reported about Tata Motors plans of slashing the price of all its hatchbacks and sedans by up to Rs 50,000 and now Chevrolet has quietly decided to do the same. The company that launched the Sail U-VA hatchback in November only, has now reduced its price by Rs. 25,000. At the launch the vehicle was rolled out at a starting price of Rs. 4.44 lakh, but a newspaper advertisement published yesterday in TOI shows the Sail U-VA's starting price Rs. 4.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Chevrolet Sail Sedan which was launched on February 1st, 2013 was priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), thus had a price difference of Rs. 50,000 when compared to the Sail hatchback. So, the decision must have been taken because of two important reasons, first to increase the price gap between the hatchback and sedan version of the Sail, and secondly to make the car even more price competitive against the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift. 

Chevrolet Sail Sedan has already received a good response, in fact better than the hatchback variant of the same car, so such a decision might help the Hatchback to do better in terms of sales numbers. The Sail hatchback is offered with two engine options- a 1.2-litre petrol mill and the proven and potent 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine is the similar Fiat sourced powertrain used by the Maruti Suzuki Swift, however tuned slightly better than the later. We haven't heard anything from the company officials as of now, so check out the space for updates on the same. Cheers!
