The BR-V is the talk of the town. The car is all set to launch on 5 May 2016 and combines the ruggedness of an SUV with the practicality of an MPV. The car has got some big names to counter in the compact SUV space. It will be straight clashing with the Renault Duster and the segment dominator, the Hyundai Creta. So first let us have a look at some of the specs of these cars to make a fair judgement about the competition.
Honda BRV Vs Rivals
The compact SUV space is not compact anymore. The space which was once ruled by Duster has seen some several fierce competition in recent times. Since the launch, Hyundai Creta has been going strong and even won accolades for the carmaker. Renault realized the growing competition and launched a facelifted version of the Duster to balance it. At such a time, Honda really has to work hard to ensure the BR-V is able to sustain the heat of established stalwarts.
The seven-seater layout of the BR-V is something on which the Japanese carmaker will like to place its bet. All other players in this race are able to seat five passengers. While borrowing the engines from the City is a good move, Honda could have made it better by giving them a different tune to take care of the power needs. Even the non-availability of an automatic transmission with the diesel mill could be a setback for the carmaker, given its immensely growing popularity. A lot will depend on the launching price of the car. It might happen that Honda keeps it low in order to make space for itself in the packed segment.
We will be soon conducting a road test of the BR-V. Till then do tell us what you think about the car and impact it can create on the other cars in the same line.
