Daimler the luxury automobile manufacturer has cleared the air that it does not wish to make a cheaper car brand for the upcoming auto markets such as India. The does not wish to compromise on the top notch luxury it is known for, even after facing tough competition with the arch rivals BMW taking the front.
Dieter Zetsche the chairman of Daimler stated that the company is clear about its decision ,the company will loosen its ties by shifting to a different auto brand segment. He added that Mercedes Benz will not compromise for the reputation it holds globally and will not scale it down. The auto company is known for its luxury car brands and holds a respectful position in the particular segment. It will not benefit the company by venturing into the volume segment.
He said that the auto company is hoping to scale up in terms of numbers in the auto markets such as India riding high on the economic growth. He also added that when a particular country's economy is growing it leads to various growth opportunities.
The competition is stiff for the German auto mobile brand even after sharing a strong presence in India for years. The company faces stringent competition with its arch rivals Audi and BMW. Mercedes power ownership of numero uno was shun away by BMW last year and by adding BMW X1, the mini SUV to its portfolio of cars it is gaining popularity. BMW also intends to maintain its edge over Mercedes in terms of volume, a major concern for Daimler. However, Mercedes is confident and says that competition is good for growth. For the company sales is not top priority. The company wishes to grow in revenues.
