Day 2: A long (and tiring) first day was followed by a relatively sedate 2nd day. Another day full of concept showcases, launches and showcases draws to a close. Here's a look at the best cars showcased on Day 2.
1. Polo GTI
Another addition to the growing hot hatch market, Volkswagen took wraps off the Polo GTI. Available as a 3-door only, the GTI is the most powerful iteration of the humble Polo. It packs a 1.8 litre, turbocharged motor that belts out a whopping 192PS of max power. Volkswagen haven't given us a price yet, but expect it to be around the 15 lakh rupee mark.
2. XUV Aero
Mahindra's all-out love it or hate it approach to styling was at play yet again with the XUV Aero concept. Based on the XUVs platform, the Aero is a crossover coupe - much like the BMW X6. Our favorite bit about the Aero have to be the suicide doors. It remains to be seen if Mahindra put the Aero into production.
3. Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Amongst the most anticipated showcases at the 13th Auto Expo - the Ignis finally set foot in India. The launch is still a while away, but we can't help but adore the retro styling and the chic interior. The Ignis shall hit Nexa showroom floors and might just be the most affordable car there!
4. Renault Duster Facelift
The car that kicked off the compact SUV segment on the country is now better looking and better equipped. The Duster gets a few design updates like the reworked face, a couple of new colors and most importantly - an AMT paired to the diesel engine. We do not expect a major revision in the price.
5. Ssangyong Tivoli
If the XUV Aero wasn't grabbing enough eyeballs, Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled the Ssangyong Tivoli. Based on the XIV air adventure concept, the Tivoli is powered by 1.6 litre Petrol and diesel motors internationally. The Tivoli will go up against the Creta and the Renault Duster.
