#FIRST2EXPO- WITH THE BIGGEST MEDIA CREW ON GROUND, CARDEKHO BRINGS TO YOU THE MOST EXTENSIVE COVERAGE OF AUTO EXPO 2016.
The 13th edition of the AutoExpo brings a mixed bag to the table. A lot of interesting concepts and a flurry of launches made the day quite a handful. We list down the best production cars from the day:
The first showcase of the day, the Vitara Brezza grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Maruti’s rival to the Ford Ecosport and the TUV3OO is set to hit showroom floors soon. The Brezza gets Maruti’s tried and tested DDiS200 motor that churns out 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. We can’t wait to get our hands on this one!
Honda BR-V
The BR-V will be Honda’s big launch this year. The compact SUV has an ace up its sleeve i.e the seven seater arrangement. It gets Honda’s reliable 1.5 litre i-VTEC and i-DTEC motors. While the tune on the diesel engine remains identical to the City, the petrol motor is tuned to produce 120PS of power and 145Nm of torque. This one is sure to give the Creta a run for its money when it launches later this year.
Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee
The American Icon is finally here. Kickstarting Jeep’s official innings in the country are the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Grand Cherokee. Jeep took things one step further and unveiled the delicious Cherokee SRT. The SRT houses a massive 6.4 litre V8 motor, and that is enough to propel the mammoth to 100kmph from a standstill in around 5 seconds.
Innova Crysta
The second generation of the immensely popular Innova was showcased at the 2016 AutoExpo. The Crysta gets a plethora of features such as automatic climate control, 7” touchscreen audio system with navigation, cruise control and electrically adjustable seat amongst others. These features are sure to click with the masses. The new Crysta is 150 mm longer, 35 mm taller and 65 mm wider compared to the Innova.
Tata Hexa
The Hexa is based on the same rugged platform from the not-so-successful Aria MPV and was first unveiled in its concept form at the Geneva Auto Salon, last year. The Hexa gets its power from a 2.2 litre VARICOR 400 diesel engine, which recently made its debut in the Safari Storme.Transmission option includes a standard 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed GM-sourced autobox. Also, the top-spec Hexa will feature a 4WD system.
The most affordable Jaguar has made its way to the Indian market today. With prices starting at Rs. 39.9 lakh; the XE goes up against the 3-Series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes C-Class. The baby Jag will be powered by a 2.0 litre petrol motor with a 200PS or a 240PS tune depending on the variants. The XE gets the 8-speed ZF Automatic transmission standard.
