After multiple sightings of the redesigned exterior of the facelifted Tata Safari, and with a recent one revealing the presence of new 19-inch alloy wheels, the interior of the SUV has been spied on for the first time, giving us a glimpse into what’s heading our way. The facelifted Safari will come with a heavily designed cabin and here is what the spy shots suggest:
A New Cabin
As per the spy shots, the facelifted Tata SUV will get a completely redesigned center console with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is also offered in the current iteration. It will also get a new setup for climate control with likely haptic controls which can be seen on the Curvv concept, and the centre AC vents also look redesigned.
The spy shots also reveal a new 4-spoke steering wheel inspired by the Tata Avinya concept which will likely get a display in the middle, and you can also spot paddle shifters behind the wheel. This steering wheel was also spotted on a test mule of the facelifted Tata Nexon. However, unlike the one on the updated Nexon, this one could offer more functionality; and like we mentioned, it is expected to display some drive information apart from the backlit Tata logo.
It gets a drive mode selector which could have a display like the one offered on the Tata Nexon EV Max, and the gear knob is new as well. Also, we can expect some changes to the overall design of the cabin including the dashboard which could give the facelifted Safari a more premium cabin ambience.
Changes To The Powertrain
The facelifted Safari is expected to retain the 2-litre diesel engine from the current model. This unit makes 170PS and 350Nm and is offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV will also get Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (170PS/280Nm), which was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. This engine will likely come with a DCT as suggested by the presence of paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Features & Safety
With this facelift, the Safari will carry over features like a digital driver’s display, ventilated front and middle row seats (6-seater), powered driver seats, a panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging and cruise control.

In terms of safety, it could come with six airbags as standard, electronic stability program (ESP), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a suite of ADAS features from the current version like forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert.

One major addition to this list could be lane keep assist, which is currently not offered on the Safari and Harrier. Tata could add this feature with the facelift; and to accommodate it, the carmaker will likely make the power steering electronic.
Launch, Price and Rivals
Tata could launch the facelifted Tata Safari early next year at an expected starting price of Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to rival the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
