To celebrate the 60th year of its collaboration with Ferrari, Pininfarina has designed an incredibly limited edition roadster named Ferrari Sergio. The Ferrari Sergio was named so in homage to the great Sergio Pininfarina, the renowned designer who led the development of many Ferrari cars. The first Ferrari Sergio has been delivered to its first owner, SBH Royal Auto Gallery in the UAE, at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit.
Based on the 458 Spider, Ferrari Sergio is focused entirely on performance and as the company says, explicitly references the track, underscoring and intensifying its sense of sportiness, fun behind the wheel and the pleasure of design at its purest. It is powered by Ferrari's naturally aspirated 4497 cc V8 making a maximum output of 605 hp and can make the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds.
Pininfarina has made the design of Ferrari Sergio extremely simple, with two body shell masses melded together via a longitudinal black insert. The flank is also characterised by the same black longitudinal element that both divides and unites the front and rear. The semi-floating development of the front spoiler beneath the bonnet balances downforce and optimises heat exchange, while the roll-bar is a modern take on the classic Ferrari flying buttress and negative rear window. The roll-bars are integrated with air intakes for clutch and gearbox oil cooling.
The headlights have been integrated into a single transparent transverse element and at the rear, the circular tail lights are another pointer to Ferrari history. The two-tone theme is also offered to the front bonnet and rear deck with the latter featuring the iconic circular air vents seen on other iconic Pininfarina creations from the past.
Each six of the Ferrari Sergios can be configured by their owners for tailor made specifications for the interiors. The example delivered to Abu Dhabi has three-layer red exterior paintwork and black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitching, Alcantara seat inserts, extensive carbon dash and door well trim and also features Sergio-specific forged wheels, gold in colour with a diamond finish.
