Some of the Fiat dealers have started taking the booking of the upcoming Punto EVO, though the official launch of the hatch is on August 5. The prices of the vehicle is likely to remain in the vicinity of the current model. While there is no official word about the current model being retained (as Punto Classic like they did with Linea Classic) or will be phased out. The booking amount is approximately INR 50,000.
What's new in the Punto EVO!
- The front end is entirely different sporting swept back headlamps, inverted trapezoidal grille and a lot of chrome.
- The vehicle gets new diamond cut alloys on the 15-inch radial variants while the Sports trim gets segment first 16-inch alloys!
- The rear gets clear lens tailamps with segment first LED lighting while the rear fogs integrated in the bumper get a refresh.
- Inside the hatch, it gets completely new all-black dashboard (Sports 90HP) with segment-first ambient lighting, upgraded audio system with Fiat's 'Blue and Me' having voice inputs and rear AC vent!
- The vehicle also gets dual tone dash and new set of premium upholstery.
Power
Diesel: Punto EVO continues to get the same 1.3L MJD in two states of tune. The Punto EVO variants get the 1.3 MJD with fixed-geometry-turbo (FGT) churning out 75bhp @ 4000rpm and 197Nm of max torque at 1750rpm. While the Punto EVO Sports gets the better variable-geometry-turbocharger which pumps the power of 88.8bhp while the torque is 209Nm. Both the engines are mated to a five speed manual transmission.
Petrol: The petrol trim also gets similar powertrains, the 1.4L FIRE engine produces 88.8bhp at 6000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4500rpm. While the smaller capacity 1.2 FIRE mill gathers 67bhp at 6000rpm and 96Nm at 2500rpm. Both the engines are mated to a five speed manual transmission.
The new hatch is even more enticing than before, Fiat made a good looking car a head turner retaining the 'Giugiaro' cues! Though mechanically its same but the pull it exerts on you the second you stare this Italian hatch is even more tempting to resist!
