Fiat seems aggressive with its product and expansion plans for the Indian car market. The Italian carmaker is aiming to regain its lost market share by introducing several new cars and facelifts. At the recently concluded Auto Expo, Fiat unveiled the facelifted Linea, Avventura crossover and Abarth 500. The bookings for the new Linea has already been started, while the launch will take place in the first week of March. It also introduced its performance brand Abarth, which will launch its products by end of this year.
Fiat India is also planning to revive its Punto badge, which is not contributing much to its sales. The facelift version of the Punto hatch, which has already been spotted several times during its test rounds, is likely to make its debut by festive season. The updated Punto gets a new front bumper with new fog lamps, new headlamps and a new grille. Its rear end features a new tail lamp cluster and a new bumper.
Inside the cabin, the Punto facelift is expected to get new upholstery seats and redesigned dashboard. It is also speculated that the modified Punto share most of its styling cues with Avventura crossover, which is likely to be introduced by year end. Mechanically, the vehicle likely to remain unchanged- 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine. The gasoline models continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engines, while the oil burner will have 1.3-litre multi-jet engine that comes in two power states- 75PS and 90PS.
