BMW has probably brought Fiat to its senses and urged to add two more variants to the Fiat 500's existing line up. A Fiat 500L five door hatchback and a seven seater version of Fiat 500 will be added to the existing three variants, the Fiat 500 mini hatchback, convertible and a Abarth version of the car in the global markets, though the auto major has given no hint on the Fiat India's take on this matter.

Fiat 500 L will be huge deviation from the mini three-door version we see in India and abroad sharing the wider Fiat Punto platform for a comfortable ride and quality for five pasengers aboard. It is not just in width the car has outgrown, but the length of the Fiat 500 L is also excess by 100 mm translating to enough boot and cabin space. The Fiat 500 sales had been pathetic in India due to the three door version which failed to garner attraction from the Fiat fans in India.

Hopefully, the Fiat 500 L will be a better option to rival against recently launched BMW Mini and the likes in India, if the luck favours. But this is not all Fiat has in its kitty. The Fiat 500 seven seater model will also follow shortly in 2012 itself which is again not bereft of competitors as BMW is determined to give a good fight to Fiat with its Mini Countryman SUV in the crossover segment.
