It was only a few days back that we brought to you the unveiling date of the Kia Sonet facelift. Now, the carmaker has confirmed it by way of releasing the first teaser of the updated SUV.
Details Observed
The video gives us a glimpse of the facelifted SUV’s fascia, which is seen with a tweaked grille design, sharper multi-reflector LED headlight clusters and fang-shaped LED DRLs. We had already seen most of these changes on the China-spec facelifted Sonet, but the India-spec version will have some differences. In the teaser, we can also notice a differently styled front bumper with sleeker LED fog lamps (current model has halogen projector units).
It also shows the revised alloy wheel design along with blacked-out ORVM housings and a black roof. While its back hasn’t been revealed just yet, we expect it to have a connected LED taillight setup as seen on the facelifted Kia Seltos.
Cabin And Feature Changes
Unlike the exterior, the interior of the new Kia Sonet will not get a major overhaul. That said, Kia could freshen things up on the inside by giving it fresh upholstery and possibly a revised climate control panel. The teaser also shows the same 10.25-inch infotainment screen and central AC vents as seen on the existing model.
We expect the facelifted Sonet to come with a semi-digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera. Apart from the infotainment system, the Sonet will also retain features such as ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, cruise control, and a single-pane sunroof.
In terms of its safety net, Kia could provide it with six airbags as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front and rear parking sensors, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Familiar Driving Force
The facelifted Kia Sonet will retain the current model’s powertrain options. These are an 83 PS/ 115 Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine (with a 5-speed MT), a 120 PS/172 Nm 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT), and a 116 PS/250 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine (with a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic).

Price And Rivals
We believe the 2024 Kia Sonet will have a starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale early next year. It will continue to take on the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the Maruti Fronx crossover.
