Force India to offer Viano based MPV at Innova's price?

Recently a car like Mercedes Benz Viano was caught doing some test rounds in India. However, Mercedes-Benz India has no plans to launch the Viano, also called as Mercedes-Benz V Class, in India as they believe that it may adversely impact the brand. The other side of the coin points towards upcoming Force India MPV. Expected to be showcased at the Jan 2012 Auto Expo, Force Viano price in India was announced earlier. It was claimed that the price will remain in the ambit of Rs 11 lakh-Rs 15 lakh, thus settling it in Toyota Innova’s range.

Force Motors planned to launch an MPV till 2013 but a prepone is well expected now. The Pune based company made it clear that once it has the dealership network in place; it plans to launch an 8 seater MPV. It’s a clear fact that Force Motors now works closely with the Diamler group (Parent company of Mercedes-Benz) after the launch of Force One SUV and uses engines and gearboxes sourced from them for a range of products. Force Motors need not to worry about the engines now because they already produce Daimler’s engines on a contract basis. So the Force MPV is adhered to be powered by the same 2.2L-141Ps engine that obliges the Force One SUV.

The Viano that Force Motors will sell in India won't really be different from the one Mercedes’ that sells in the international market with huge success. Mercedes Viano is a 5 door van available in six or seven seater combinations, but India will get the 8 seater version with enough space left for luggage for all. It is available in petrol and diesel guise with a manual/automatic gearbox. The interiors of the new car would be no less than 5-star car and one can expect highest degree of fit and finish.
