The growing trend of listening to music through USB or MP3 player has led the Ford Motors to think of replacing the CD players with the latest technology instruments. The Ford Motors is apparently the first automaker to initiate the transition from the CD players to the advanced form with their new Ford Focus. The new Ford Focus, free of the CD player, is now installed with a USB socket in international markets and is hoped to be launched in India early next year.

However, the Ford Motors have higher plans, to enable the music access from the internet and are using the USB as just a stop gap arrangement until then. Ford Motors has plans to offer a complete music hub on the future cars along with a slot provided for USB and an iPod jock, enabling the user to access the users’ uploaded files on the internet with the help of an on-board computer system through services like Apple’s icloud. It had been observed that there has been a sharp downfall of CD players since the physical albums demand has come down in this new digital era. Hence, the Ford Motors have come up with its decision to replace the CD players and hope to get rid of these old timers with the new Sync system deployed in around 20 lakh Ford cars by 2015.
