Ford hasn’t given any clue of when they are bringing the Endeavour, but the brawny SUV has recently been spotted wearing a Tamil Nadu registration plate. The vehicle is probably going some last moment tests as the manufacturer didn’t care to cover it in any sort of veil.
Looking at the spied images, one can see the badging around the vehicle that suggest it is somewhere closer to the top end variant. The mud splashed sides flaunt the 3.2 litre badging, that means this particular vehicle is powered by the unique-to-this-segment inline-5 cylinder one. Also, if you notice closely, there are no DRLs on the headlamps instead there is a chrome garnish. The same goes with the wheels that are not looking as big as the 20-incher, the ones that we tested in Thailand and are wrapped up by Goodyear wrangler ATs. Owing to this, there could be a possibility that this one is the lower variant of the 3.2-litre Endeavour line up.
Speaking of the engine, it will be offered with two motors, one is the above mentioned 3.2-litre I-5 and another one is a 2.2-litre inline 4 cylinder. The number are a good 200PS for the former while the smaller one puts out 160PS. Transmission duties will be carried out by a manual and automatic option with the smaller engine and a strictly 6-speed automatic for the bigger one.
Endeavour has been one of the largest selling premium SUVs of India in its hay days, but due to lack of any update and tough competition from the then-new Toyota Fortuner, it lost its title. But we still have a fair amount of Endeavour lovers in the country and they are eagerly waiting for this update to arrive.
