The festive season in India has begun and Ford has kicked off the expected slew of new or special models by launching a new Flair variant of the Freestyle. It comes at an introductory price of Rs 7.69 lakh for the petrol and Rs 9.79 lakh for the diesel. It will sit above the former top-spec Titanium+ variant.
The Flair variant is based on the Titanium+ variant of the Freestyle and as such, doesn’t add any usable features to the Freestyle’s brochure. It, however, does distinguish itself from the rest of the variants with a host of cosmetic additions including a red and black theme that is prevalent across the interior and exterior of the car.
On the outside, the faux skid plate at the front is now red, contrasting nicely with the black cladding of the bumper. The outside rearview mirrors feature a combination of red and black colours and the roof, which is now black, comes with red roof rails to make it pop. The doors have been given new decals with the word ‘Flair’ scribbled towards the rear. The black and red theme is maintained here as well, with a bit of grey thrown in to make things interesting. Lastly, Ford has given it new black alloy wheels to complete the look.

On the inside, the changes are limited to a new black and grey upholstery. The red accents are carried over to the inside as well, with the red door handles contrasting the black interior quite nicely. The ‘Flair’ branding adorns the seats as well. All these cosmetic updates add Rs 30,000 over the Titanium+ variant upon which it is based.
Like the Titanium+ variant, the Flair variant of the Freestyle gets the FordPass system that allows you to remotely check on the vehicle using your smartphone. Apart from that, there are six airbags on offer along with Active Rollover Protection that works off the car’s Electronic Stability Control feature. Other features include auto headlamps, auto wipers, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
The engine options for the Freestyle continue to be the 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 96PS and 120Nm and the 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 100PS and 215Nm. Both of them drive the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.
Moreover, Ford is offering free one-year membership to JioSaavn with this variant of the Freestyle for bookings made before February 2021.
