Ford Mondeo sedan could be re-launched in India in 2013

Ford India disclosed its latest Ford Fusion Sedan recently at the Detroit Auto Exhibition. The company is all set for the launch of this car in the Indian car market in the year 2013. The company will be naming the Fusion as the Ford Mondeo in the European and other global car markets. In the Indian market Ford has already sold  the Mondeo. However this Mondeo was a few generations old. At that time Ford Mondeo was amongst the cars with best driving potential and had very high performing engines. Now, Ford India has come up with an all new series for the Indian car market. The plan is to launch only global Ford car models in India comlpying with  the company's One Ford philosohy.

The Ford Mondeo, which will be rolled out in 2013, is expected to be similar to the European variant. It will differ from the American model in terms of style and few other features. Also the new Mondeo will come with a diesel engine variant as well and hence it is bound to be successful in the Indian car market where buyers have a liking for diesel cars. The petrol variant will come with 1.6 ltr  and 2 ltr Ecoboost turbo petrol engine options. The powerful engine will further provide increased fuel efficiency and reduce the emissions from the rear. To add to this, in order to provide higher performance, the Ecoboost engine will come with direct injection technology and variable valve timing. The hybrid variant of the car will be rolled out in the later part of 2012 and will be sold in America as Ford Fusion.

Although in order to achieve competitive pricing selling the car through CKD route will be helpful, the company is likely to bring the car in the Indian car market as a CBU. The Ford Mondeo will be giving fierce competition to car Hyundai  Sonata Fluidic. The Ford Mondeo, which will be rolled out in 2013, is expected to be similar to the European variant. It will differ from the American model in terms of style and few other features. Also this version of Mondeo will come with awith a diesel engine variant as well and hence it is bound to be successful in the Indian car market where buyers have a liking for diesel engine cars and such cars have been dominating the market in recent times. The petrol engine variant will be in between 1.6 ltr to 2 ltr capacity and will also be Ecoboost turbocharged engine.

Although in order to achieve competitive pricing manufacturing the car through CKD kits will be helpful, the company is like to bring the car in the Indian car market as a CBU. The Ford Mondeo will be giving fierce competition to cars like Camry from Toyota, Honda's Accord, VW's Passat, Skoda's Superb and Sonata Fluidic from Hyundai.
