Ford to launch Focus by 2011

US based Ford Motors is planning to launch a new small car Mercury by the starting of year 2011. The model will be based on Ford's new global compact car platform, said Americas Mark Fields, Ford President on Sunday.

The all new Ford Mercury model is one of the 10 vehicles about which the company is planning for its global small car architecture, that also includes the upcoming 2012 Ford Focus model, and would enhance its range of the mid-level premium brand long devoid of new products.

Ford is also in the final stage of launching its Indian oriented small car Ford Figo in the country. It is expected that the Ford Figo model will be launched in India by the first week of March this year. Production of the Figo model has already been started at company's Chennai plant and the model will be ready for display by the last week of this month. After the launch, the Ford Figo will be competing with small car models like Chevrolet Beat and for this company will launch it with a very competitive price tag. Though there is no conformation from the company's side but it is expected that the Ford Figo model will carry the price tag ofv Rs 3.5 to 4.5 lakh.
