Geneva Motor Show to witness 140 new cars

Geneva Motor Show is set to begin from March 8 2012. According to the organizers of the show, this time around 140 new cars will appear at the show. About 7000,000 visitors are expected to visit Geneva Motor Show. Audi A3, new Porsche Boxter, Dacia Lodgy from Renault, Fiat 500L, and Ferrari California are the most awaited cars in the list which will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. 260 exhibitors from 30 countries will participate at the grand event and these exhibitors will be exhibiting 700 brands. Geneva Motor Show always had the reputation of showcasing the best and finest brands under one roof across all parts of the globe.
Car of the year trophy will also be handed over on 5th March 2012, just three days before the beginning of the show. The trophy was given to Electric car, from Nissan last year. The jury panel consists of 59 auto journalists, this year there are about seven cars which have been short listed by the jury, which include Volkswagen UP, Toyota Yarris, Fiat Panda, Ford Focus, Citroen DS5, Opel Ampera, and Range Rover Evoque. The finalist will be receiving an award after getting nod from a panel of 59 jury members. This tradition began in 1964, and the first car to win this award was Rover 2000 and in 1965 the award was given to Mercedes S600. The 'green car' will be unveiled by French designer and car fan Philippe Stark at the Geneva Motor Show, as part of green pavilion. The visitors of Geneva Motor Show can test drive many environment and eco- friendly technology cars that will be showcased at the show. They test drive these cars at closed circuit which is located near the show venue.
