Get The MG Astor Black Storm Edition At Rs 14.48 Lakh Onwards

The Black Storm edition is based on the mid-spec Smart trim and comes with a single engine option

• Astor gets two petrol engine options: a 110PS, 1.5-litre unit and a 140PS, 1.3-litre turbocharged unit.

The MG Astor has joined the blacked-out crew with its new Black Storm edition. This special edition comes with an all-black treatment with red highlights, similar to the MG Gloster Black Storm edition. The Black Storm edition is based on the mid-spec Smart variant of the Astor and its prices are as follows:

The Black Storm edition command Rs 27,000 more over the regular Astor Smart.

Cosmetic Changes

On the outside, the special edition Astor gets an all-black treatment with a distinctive black honeycomb grille, black front and rear bumpers, smoked headlights, and blacked-out alloy wheels. In addition to this black hue, it also gets red front brake calipers. There is also a “Black Storm” badge on each front fender to identify the special edition.

Inside, it gets a similar colour scheme. The cabin gets all-black upholstery with red stitching on the seats. It also gets red inserts on the steering wheel, around the AC vents and all black console tunnel.

Any New Features?

The Black Storm edition primarily brings cosmetic changes for its price and the features list remains the same. However, it does get a dealer-fitted JBL sound system over the regular Astor Smart variant. The MG compact SUV already gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control and a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of safety, the Smart variant offers dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability programme (ESP), hill hold and descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a rear view camera.

The One Powertrain

The MG Astor comes with two engine options: a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (140PS/220Nm) paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (110PS/144Nm) mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The Black Storm edition only gets the 1.5-litre engine option with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Price & Rivals

MG has priced the Astor between Rs 10.82 lakh and Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The Black Storm edition is an affordable alternative to the likes of the Kia Seltos X-Line while competing with the Hyundai Creta Knight Edition, and matte editions of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Tiguan. Overall, the compact SUV shall rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross.
